Our Scientific Committee Audiologist awarded as Health Scientist of the Year

A member of our Scientific Committee, audiologist Ms. Christina Tampakaki, was honoured at the HealthCare Science (HCS) Awards 2026 in London, with the title of Health Scientist of the Year!

 

It is a great joy, sentiment and honor for us that Ms. Christina Tampakaki, was awarded by the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, a leading institution that recognizes and honors the excellence, innovation and substantial contribution of health scientists in different fields.

 

This award was created to recognize professionals and teams who stand out for their work in research, development, leadership and education, highlighting the crucial role of health science in improving patient care. The institution highlights the importance of recognizing excellence and contributes to cultivating a culture of quality, progress and human-centered innovation in the health system.

 

Ms. Tampakaki was born in Heraklion, Crete, on the 12th of December 1994. She grew up in Moires until the completion of her primary education and subsequently moved with her parents, Mr. Aristidis Tampakakis and Ms. Annette Thomson, to Heraklion, where she completed her secondary education. She went on to study Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Patras and later pursued a Masters in Audiology at the University College London (UCL), one of the world’s leading academic institutions in the field of audiology.

 

She followed her passion for paediatric audiology, with a particular emphasis on specialised hearing support through hearing aids and cochlear implants. She currently works as an Advanced Senior Audiologist & Trainer of Trainers at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London, with extensive experience in paediatric and adult diagnostic audiology, hearing rehabilitation and tinnitus management. In parallel, she is actively involved in the education of healthcare professionals, as well as in research and development within the field of audiology.
